Use Fabric To Cover Cords

I really didn’t like the way that looked and we already have one light fixture with a chain so thought something different would be nice.

We have cords sicking out everywhere in our house and until now I have never thought to cover them with fabric.

Materials

  • Fabric
  • Sewing machine or needle and thread ( you could also use glue if you do not sew)

Measure the length of the cords you need to cover and cut out long strips (equaling the length you need) about 4 inches wide. I needed 3 strips of fabric for my light cord.

Fold the fabric in half long ways and sew straight down. Remember to put the right sides of the fabric together.

Put a safety through one side, push it through the fabric to turn the fabric right side in.

It should look like this as you push it through. Slide your cord through and you’re done! Yay!

I had never thought to cover ugly cords with fabric. Many of mine are threaded through chains, which I like. I will have to try the fabric method in the future.
