Clay Hand Ring Holder
I don’t know about you but my little ones love making things for me and since Mother’s Day is fast approaching I thought I would share this fun craft with you. We did this just for fun but it would make the perfect Mother’s day gift from your child. It also gives you a little keepsake of their hand at whatever age they are at the time.
Gather your materials:
- Air dry or baking clay
- X-Acto knife
- Pencil, skewer or embroidery needle for tracing
- Ball (if air drying) aluminium foil (for baking)
- Baking dish
- Rolling pin
- A hand
Start by kneading your clay so it is smooth and then roll it out with your rolling pin. Try to keep it at about 1/2 an inch thick.
Have your child place hand on the clay and trace around their hand then use X-Acto knife to cut it out. You may want to smooth it out before baking.
If you are letting it air dry then use a ball for the mold, I added a small strip to the bottom to help it stand up better.
Make a foil ball and bake according to the directions on the packaging.
When your clay is done baking, let it cool and then design however you would like.
Echo decided to paint hers purple. She is so excited to make something for me but “I have to have something different for Mother’s Day now because it has to be a surprise.” So now I am excited to see what else I will be getting. Kid made gifts are the best!
I got the idea for this project here, check it out.
