Best Tips For Saving Money On Kids Clothes

Children grow so fast and it can get expensive buying new clothes. I am going to share some of my favorite tips for saving money on kids clothes.

My favorite tip is to reuse them. This is true for adult clothing too. I see all of these articles about getting rid of everything you don’t need and although, it is a good idea to get rid of some things there are many uses for old clothes.

My favorite clothing to reuse:

  • Jeans- Jeans can be used for so many things.
  • T- Shirts- Can be used for pretty much anything.
  • Sweaters- Same as T- Shirts. Check out some of the many uses HERE.
  • Dresses- Some dresses can me made into shirts. A good example is a dress that I made for Echo almost 3 years ago and it still fits. You can find this cute dress pattern here.

Things that you can not reuse, sell. Find an online group or local store to sell your children’s used clothes to. You will not get rich doing this but at least it is something that can be used to purchase new clothes with.

Never buy anything full price! There will always be a sale or store coupon to use. I buy clothes the next size bidder when the go on sale so when the weather changes my kids will already have clothes to wear and I save a ton of money doing that.

Buy used. Buying used clothes is a great way to save money. If the clothes are in good condition then, why not.

This last tip is one we often don’t think of.

Don’t buy so much. Many of us have way more clothing than we actually need. Cutting back on the amount of clothes you buy is a sure way to save a little money.

What you write is so true! If I would buy kids clothes full price I would be broke soon! Most of the clothes for kids we bought were bought second-hand but are obviously new or worn once! I can totally relate to that. Lots of new stuff that my parents and parents of my husband bought our little ones didn’t get to wear and they grow so fast! So I also sold those new (!) and those almost not used items and lucky buyers got great stuff for a fraction of cost.

Great ideas and money savers. And you don’t have to know how to sew. There are tapes and fabric glue you can use. Just cut, tape or glue.

Ashley, you are so right. Kids grow up so fast that you can go broke buying their clothes. My daughter-in-law must have read your article. She does everything you recommend.
