Awesome Dinosaur Planters

I have to admit that I love yard sales, thrift stores and curb finds, but what DIY-er doesn’t right? I found a bunch of artificial plants being put on the curb so I did the responsible thing and brought them home. When I was looking around online, trying to find something to do with them I found this, Here. Check it out, I really enjoyed her tutorial.

I decided to use that tutorial to decorate with my “fake” succulents. Now all I needed was to search my kids room to find an old dinosaur that they wouldn’t miss. Of course, I had to do it in secret because although they never play with something, if they see me touch it then it automatically becomes their favorite toy.

For this project you will need:

  • Toy dinosaur
  • A tool to cut through the plastic ( I used a box cutter)
  • Spray paint
  • Succulents
  • Rocks or dirt

Cut a hole in the back of the dinosaur.

Spray paint it and let dry. Then fill it with rocks or dirt.

Add your succulents and admire.

Now I just can figure out where to put it. Inside or outside? maybe I will just have to make another one so I can do both.

This is amazing! My sister has gotten into gardening the past few years & I just might need to make her a few of these to kick off her spring garden!

Great idea! Not only are you recycling old plants, but unused toys can be reused too! Thanks for sharing, going to pin this one 🙂

Great idea! I love up-cycling stuff too.

I fancy trying this for my spring décor using little plastic bunnies.

We did a program like this at my library this summer! The samples are still all over the place and I love watching the plants grow and watching kids react to dinosaurs with plants growing out of their backs. This is such a fun craft and even more fun to do with a huge group of kids. Thanks for sharing the how-to!

Thank you. It would be a fun activity to do with kids if you are using real plants.
