7 Ways To Upgrade Your Laundry Room For Little Or No Money

Hey guys! Sorry it’s been a few days I have been working on a few new things that will be coming up soon. I have also been working on adding items to my ETSY Shop. I am really excited about everything new that’s happening here. Well, today I have been working tirelessly trying to clean up our garage, It is such a mess! The worst part is that our laundry area is in the garage – EEEK, that is by far my least favorite feature of a home. It makes me never want to do laundry. If you do happen to have the same problem or even just have a laundry room that is unflattering, I have a few tips that might help you upgrade your laundry room for little to no money.

This is what I started with. It is dark, dirty and I was always a little afraid a spider would pop out and get me while I was washing clothes.

See dirty.. Yuck

Tip 1. Clean, Clean, Clean… Take things down, move things and scrub.

Tip 2. Paint

We don’t really have the budget for new storage, so I just gave these old dirty shelves a little face lift and spray painted them. If you are feeling up to it, a nice coat of paint on the walls would be great too ( I didn’t have any paint on hand but I will paint this area at some point).

Tip 3. Decorate

I spray painted a couple small crates and the laundry detergent bottle to make everything match. I added a wall sign made from a scrap piece of wood and vinyl from Every Day Vinyl, I also added a cute vinyl saying to the top of the washing machine and a lost socks label to one of the crates- I love vinyl, you can do so much with it. Add a little carpet or a mat to make your feet happy, after all you are the one standing there sorting, washing and drying all of the time.

Tip 4.

Add some more lighting. A lot of laundry areas are in the basement, garage, a corner somewhere with no windows and that can make it seem so dark and depressing. Adding a light or 2 can make your space seem so much more pleasant and make doing laundry less of a burden.

Tip 6.

Add a little life. I put these cute little plants in my space to make it feel refreshing.

I needed a place for all the money I find in pockets so I am using this cool little jar. You can find this one and many more designs for sale at my ETSY Shop.

Tip 7.

Cover up anything that makes your room feel blah. I don’t know if you guys saw that unsightly old water heater in a picture above, but it is awful. So I covered it up with a shower curtain. I plan to either use a rod to cover it or even change the whole thing out and use a couple old doors but like I said I am working with what I had on hand.

I will keep you guys updated as I continue to update this area but for now I am so happy because anything is better than what it was before.

You did a good job looks fresh and clean. I don’t mind washing clothes but I wish they would fold themselves.
